Statue by P. Joseph Mullins, 2011
Located at the State Capitol Complex, between Building 3 and the WV Veterans’ Memorial
The bronze statue is the first memorial to honor West Virginia’s female soldiers and is the only sculpture on the Capitol grounds depicting a woman. Mullins chose to represent a female veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and her attire does not represent any particular branch of the service.
