Memorial designed by P. Joseph Mullins, 1995
Located at the State Capitol Complex, between Washington St., East gate house and Building 3
Four bronze figures representing a WWI infantryman, a WWII sailor, an airman from the Korean War, and a marine from the Vietnam War are integrated into a limestone architectural environment. The interior walls are black granite and include the names of West Virginians who lost their lives in these conflicts. The artist won a design competition to create the memorial in 1987.
