Sculpture by John Collier, 2008
Located across from Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral, Leon Sullivan Way and Virginia Street
This bronze sculpture by John Collier depicts the angel Gabriel standing on a tree stump informing the Virgin Mary, standing next to a fig tree, that she is will give birth to the son of God. The work earned Collier the Design Merit in Visual Arts Award from Faith and Form Magazine in conjunction with the Interfaith Form on Religion, Art and Architecture, a division of the American Institute of Architects.
