Welcome to Charlestons East End

The East End is one of the oldest and most diverse neighborhoods and business districts in Charleston.

Its eclectic community is known for its funky, urban style.

Over the past ten years, the East End has experienced a complete resurgence with new businesses opening and finding success.

Many East End economic and community development projects have created a true destination in the City of Charleston.

The East End is home to the state’s only single A baseball team, the West Virginia Power, the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia, Capitol Market, and the State Capitol.

We welcome you to explore our neighborhood and find your destination within the gateway to the city and the state of West Virginia.

Major projects and initiatives of this Committee include:
East End Yard Sale
East End Garden Showcase
East End St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl

Urban Design

Urban Design means getting Main Street into top physical shape and creating a safe, inviting environment for shoppers, workers, and visitors. It takes advantage of the visual opportunities inherent in a commercial district by directing attention to all of its physical elements: public and private buildings, storefronts, public spaces, parking areas, landscaping, window displays, etc.

Major projects and initiatives of this Committee include:
Public art projects
StreetWorks
East End Walking Tour Guide
